Kevin Gonzalez Boas, Ph.D.
Kevin is passionate about psychological assessment and understands the vital role these evaluations play in a client's treatment continuum. He believes that each individual is complex and unique, and that a thorough assessment not only assesses the underlying problems and answers the referral question, but also understands the client in context of the systems they live in. M.A.P.S. was started with a drive to provide comprehensive assessments to improve client's clinical/mental health, cognitive/academic, and interpersonal/social needs.
From universities to residential treatment centers to therapeutic wilderness programs, Dr. Kevin Gonzalez Boas has had the opportunity to work in a variety of unique settings providing testing and therapeutic services to a diverse clientele both in the US and abroad. Kevin has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals on topics ranging from counseling, positive psychology, autism-spectrum disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. He also has presented his research findings at scientific and professional conferences nationally.
Kevin earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Boston University and his doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Memphis. He also completed a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy at Humboldt State University. During his graduate training and doctoral internship at the University of San Diego, Kevin specialized in the assessment and treatment of substance abuse, anxiety, and mood disorders. He has a particular talent for assessing complex clinical and diagnostic issues and co-occurring problems. Having grown up in a bilingual home, Kevin is not only able to speak Spanish fluently- he is also sensitive to the needs of multicultural clients and has a deep appreciation for culture and diversity.

Kevin is based out of Boulder Colorado and travels to therapeutic wilderness programs, residential treatment centers, therapeutic boarding schools, and drug/alcohol rehabilitation services to conduct psychological evaluations. He also offers multidimensional assessments and other psychological services to the greater Boulder/Denver area. In his free time, Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter while also pursuing his interests in travel, music, film, and the great outdoors.
